2020 Ended on a high note at the farm

It goes without saying 2020 was like no other year any of us have experienced. As a small business it sadden me to see so many business shuttered due to the stay at home order but yet large box stores were still able to operate and packed with people. I visited one of these mega stores at the start of the pandemic and the cashier told me their sales were better than Christmas. Ugh!!! I grew up on a farm and my parents followed their dreams and are small business owners. It took a lot of hard work, sacrifice and a little bit of luck to achieve their dream, but they did it! Its the ultimate American dream. When I was a child I don’t remember myself or my friends saying “When I grow up I want to work in middle management for a large corporate company.” Sure its cushy, I did it when I graduated from college. I made a nice salary, had full benefits and great vacation time but I have this crazy vision and dream to create my own business. It feels good to create an environment that customers love to visit. It feels great to create jobs. My mother out of love and experience from all of their struggles over the years keeps asking me if this is really what I want to do and reminds me of what a HUGE undertaking it will be. Well its a good thing the word no and I do not get along. ( I am chuckling to myself right now because I am extremely frustrated with my 5 year old that doesn’t seem to understand what no means, and it just hit me where he gets it from. duh!) We didn’t let a little pandemic get in our way this year at the farm. We were fortunate to be able to operate because we are a farm. The support we had over this past year from all of you has been amazing and reassuring, especially in these times when nothing is certain.

Update on the house

The house exterior is just about complete and WOW what a difference. The new roof is on, masonry work done, new windows installed. From the outside you would have never imagined the fire that took place; when you walk inside, well, that is a different story. We plan on starting on the inside this spring. I know that it will be interesting transformation for everyone to see and I plan on blogging about it. I have wonderful visions, now I need the funds to make it come to life. All in good time is what I remind myself. Here are some highlights from the Christmas season. Oh what fun we had!!!
